What is RPC2 and how to play DVD on RPC2 drive?

Do you know what RPC2 is? RPC2 is a scheme that makes the drive manage and control access. It refers to PC’s DVD-ROM drives that are made after Jan, 1, 2000. Before that day, all DVD-ROM drives allowed user to change the region code setting freely if necessary, allowing watch DVD movies from all over the world. These are RPC1 drives.

MPAA forced manufacturers to implement a new technology, dubbed as RPC-2 in their drives. An RPC2 drive only allows max. 5 times changes in region code. Once you use up, you will be impossible to watch a disc in a different region. If you have many DVDS that from different regions, that is a great question.

Most RPC drives refused to read the disc when the region setting and drive mismatched. Well implemented RPC2 will make it impossible to play a disc from the wrong region. In this case, DVD software like Blaze DVD Copy will decrypt any DVD movies by removing all existing DVD protections like CSS, CPPM, RC, RCE, APS, UOPs, ARccOS, RipGuard, and RPC1/RPC2 region protections automatically, make your DVD copy region-free.

And the problem will be resolved by using a RPC1 drive. A firmware that has been patched to RPC1 doesn’t care any region, what region the disc has, the drive has no region setting itself.
